Generous Otumfuo Does It Again! Donates GHc 500,000 For Oguaaman Education Fund

The historic city of Cape Coast came alive at the weekend with the presence of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the Fetu Afahye.

It was the 60th anniversary of the festival, which also marked the 25th anniversary of the enstoolment of Oguaamanhene, Osabarima Kwesi Atta II.

Followed by a large number of chiefs and people of Asanteman, the Asantehene virtually took over the event with the display of rich culture and tradition.

Donation
Otumfuo capped his majestic presence with the donation of a seed money of GHc 500,000 for the establishment of an Oguaaman Education Fund.

He then rallied the people of Oguaa and all Ghanaians to come together and support the growth and development of Oguaaman.

It was the second time in recent months that His Majesty has made such significant donations.
During a visit to the Ga Mantse Palace in Accra in June, this year, he donated GHc 500,000 to the Ga Education Fund to help in the education of less-privileged Ga children.

Importance of education
Emphasising the importance of education, the Asantehene, who was the special guest at the festival, said it holds the key to changing a lot of things for the better. Otumfuo said seeing him and his chiefs in Cape Coast was a demonstration of love and unity.

Oguaamanhene praised
The Asantehene praised the Oguaamanhene for his unquestionable humility and dedication to his area’s development. He encouraged the people of Oguaa to support their leader to do more.
Otumfuo said having known Osabarima Kwesi Atta II for a long time as a humble leader, he was hopeful that God will continue to grant him the wisdom to lead his people effectively.

Gratitude
Expressing gratitude to Otumfuo for his gesture, the Oguaamanhene said, it goes to demonstrate what genuine friendship can bring. “This gesture from Otumfuo has left me speechless. You are a genuine friend. God bless you.”

He assured to judiciously apply the fund and provide periodic updates on its utilisation.

Present were Vice President and NPP flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, his running mate, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, and his wife Alma Pokua Adade-Prempeh.
