Four-day rites for Asantehemaa begins at Manhyia Palace

The four-day funeral rites for Asantehemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III have begun at the Manhyia Palace, where she now lies in repose.
The solemn observances, known in Ashanti tradition as Dɔte Yie, began on Monday with Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II formally opening the viewing of his sister’s remains. Royals, family members, and the public are filing past to pay their respects.

The rites, known as Dɔte Yie, will continue until Thursday and are expected to draw large crowds to Kumasi, the seat of the Ashanti Kingdom.
