Family of Slain Adams Mahama Condemns Paul Afoko, Voices Lack of Faith in Justice System

The family of the late Adams Mahama, former Upper East Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has issued a strongly worded statement condemning former NPP National Chairman, Paul Afoko, over recent comments regarding the murder of their relative.
In the statement signed by Rukaya Adams on behalf of the family, they accused Mr. Afoko of “brazen audacity” for portraying himself as a victim in the case, describing his remarks as a painful affront to their long-standing grief.
“A recent interview granted by Paul Afoko, in which he audaciously paints himself as a victim in the brutal crime that stole our beloved from us, has poured more acid into wounds that have never healed,” the family said.
The statement also expressed disappointment in state authorities, accusing the President and the Attorney General of reducing the case to a political chess game instead of pursuing justice.
“Our profound disappointment extends beyond the perpetrators to the very institutions sworn to protect us. We feel utterly abandoned by the President and the Attorney General, who have treated the cold-blooded murder of a citizen as a political chess game rather than a sacred quest for truth and justice,” the family declared.
The family reaffirmed their belief that Adams Mahama, in his final moments, identified Gregory Afoko and Asabke Alangdi as his attackers, insisting that no political manoeuvres could erase that testimony.
“To Paul Afoko, we issue this direct and final advice: cease defiling the memory of our beloved Adams. Stop weaving his name into your self-serving lies,” the statement read.
The grieving family concluded by stressing that their confidence in the justice system is broken, placing their hope in divine judgment.
“We now leave Paul Afoko, his brother Gregory, Asabke Alangdi, and all who had a hand in this heinous act, in the capable hands of Allah, the All-Knowing, the Ultimate Judge. He alone sees the full truth. He alone will deliver the final verdict.”
Adams Mahama was attacked with acid in May 2015 and later died from his injuries. The case, involving Gregory Afoko and Asabke Alangdi, has dragged on for years, attracting public criticism over delays and alleged political interference.
