Essien completes his UEFA and Elite License Course
Former Black Stars midfielder Michael Essien has successfully completed his Union of European Football Association (UEFA) A and Elite Youth License A course.
Essien made the announcement public through a post on his official twitter page.
“Step by step, I am learning and growing as a coach. Happy to have completed my UEFA A and UEFA Elite Youth A license. Thanks to the family, @fawales, my tutors, my mentor, and RTD/FCN for the support. And big thank you to Tom Vernon and Flemming Pedersen,” he wrote on twitter.
The former Real Madrid man takes another step forward in his coaching career as he has been a part of the Nordsjælland technical team since September 9 2020.
Essien made 168 appearances for Chelsea between 2004 and 2014 and won the 2012 UEFA Champions League, four FA Cup titles and two English Premier League titles.
Nicknamed The Bison, Essien starred for French Ligue 1 sides Olympique Lyon and Bastia and had stints at Real Madrid, AC Milan and Panathinaikos before retiring after the 2019-2020 season.
Essien played at the 2006 and 2014 FIFA World Cup for Ghana’s Black Stars.
