Ejisu By-Election: EC withdraws staff over bribery allegation

The Electoral Commission (EC) has withdrawn two temporary staff at the ongoing Ejisu by-election at the Fumesua Pentecost Church polling station following allegations of bribery, an official statement has said.

The EC took the action after the video of the allegations went viral on social media on Tuesday (30 April). The Commission has since commenced investigation into the allegation.

A statement issued by the EC on Tuesday (30 April), said a report on the incidence will be made available to the public in due course.

“The Commission’s attention has been drawn to a video circulating on social media depicting one of the Polling Stations at the ongoing Ejisu Constituency by-elections. The polling station has been identified as Fumesua Pentecost Church polling station with polling station code F311503.

“The video shows a gentleman approaching the table and dropping an envelope on the table manned by the presiding officer and ballot issuer.”

“The Electoral Commission has taken immediate steps and has withdrawn the temporary staff while investigations take place,” the EC statement said.
