Dr. Bawumia laces boots to shake Ashanti Region
The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, will take the next leg of his campaign tour ahead of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primary, to the party’s stronghold of Ashanti Region. Already, his operational team has completed preparatory works for his visit.
Dr Bawumia who is the leading contender in the NPP flag bearer race, kicked off his campaign tour from the Greater Accra Region where he drew large numbers of delegates in all the areas he visited.
High expectations
The Thunder can report that there are high expectations within the party circles as indications are that, Dr Bawumia will be hugely received in the region.
He will meet with delegates in all the 47 constituencies and sell his message of hope to them. As happened in the first leg of his campaign tour, Dr Bawumia is expected to share his own contributions to the NPP, dating back to the period the party was in opposition through to when they won elections in 2016 to date.
Significantly, the Regional Chairman of the party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka Chairman Wontumi, and the man who lost to him in the regional chairmanship election, Odeneho Kwaku Appiah aka Chairman COKA, are strong adherents of the Bawumia presidential campaign.
The duo have huge influence within the rank and file of the NPP in Ashanti, a development which is expected to tell positively on the Vice President’s tour of the region. His campaign teams in the constituencies have been working feverishly to ensure that he sweeps the votes of delegates in the region.
Homage
As custom demands, Dr Bawumia will commence his tour of the region by paying homage to His Majesty, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to receive his blessings before hitting the ground with his meetings with delegates.
First leg
The first leg of the Vice President’s campaign tour was very successful. He took time to explain to delegates of the Greater Accra Region why he is the best bet for the NPP in the 2024 presidential election. During the meetings with delegates, he commended members of the party at the grassroots for their significant contributions to the NPP’s growth.
