Don’t run away, Come let’s debate – Bawumia fires salvos at ‘Empty’ John Mahama

Flagbearer of the NPP, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has taken a swipe at his NDC counterpart, John Dramani Mahama for running away from a debate ahead of the 2024 elections.

Describing Mr Mahama as “empty”, Dr Bawumia said it is not surprising that the former President is running away from a debate.

Speaking at a Youth Connect engagement at Bunkpurugu in the North East Region where he is on a campaign tour, Dr Bawumia said Mr Mahama himself is confused about what his 24-hour economy policy is about.

Empty barrel
Firing verbal shots at the NDC flagbearer, Dr Bawumia stated, “I’m looking forward to a debate with John Mahama on the economy, the governance, the country, but I’m afraid he’s running away from a debate. Isn’t it? His people are saying he doesn’t want to debate, he doesn’t want to debate because he knows I will expose the emptiness of his policies.”

He added: “He says he has a 24-hour economy that he cannot explain. It is as empty as an empty barrel. He cannot explain it, none of his people can explain it. They say we will be exporting lions and elephants, but when we meet mano a mano, we can debate, and the country will see where our policies lie.”

Going public
Stressing the importance of a public debate, Dr Bawumia said, “ That is where we should go; we should give the country an opportunity to listen to us. But if he chooses not to debate, I will sell my policies to the people of Ghana, and you will take the decision.”
