Breakdown of statistics on revised provisional voters register

The Electoral Commission (EC) has released the latest statistics on the current state of the Voters Register, providing a comprehensive overview of the electorate ahead of the upcoming elections.

According to the EC, the total number of valid voters stands at 18,772,251, with females making up 9,689,987 and males 9,082,264. The register also includes 708,280 first-time voters.

Special voters, who include security personnel and election officials, number 131,476. The total number of transfers recorded is 332,107, with 311,344 voters on the transferred voters list. Additionally, the proxy voters list contains 2,142 names.

The register also highlights some irregularities, with 33,536 names on the exception list and 26,790 on the multiples list. The missing voters list includes 1,273 individuals whose details need to be verified.

EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting in Accra noted that the revised Provisional Voters Register (PVR) is “a marked departure from the register we presented during the exhibition exercise as largely all the discrepancies presented to date have been fixed.”

She noted that the commission had worked in the last weeks to ensure that the information presented in the register was accurate.
