Be measured in your words – Eugene Boakye Antwi to NPP flagbearer hopefuls

Aspiring New Patriotic Party (NPP) General Secretary and former Subin MP, Eugene Boakye Antwi, has called on presidential hopefuls within the party to be mindful of their utterances as the NPP works to restore unity ahead of future elections.
Speaking on the growing divisions within the party in an interview on Citi Eyewitness News on Tuesday, October 14, he stressed that healing and unity must start with those seeking to lead.
He warned that inflammatory or careless comments from aspirants could deepen internal cracks and weaken the party’s chances.
“All my political colleagues who are contesting to become flagbearer of the party must also be guided by what they say. They must be measured out there because that is also part of the unity process,” he said.
Eugene Boakye Antwi added that if elected General Secretary, he will adopt a consultative and inclusive approach to leadership—one that brings together all factions and ensures that every member feels heard and valued.
“Unity is very critical. I plan to engage all factions constructively and transparently,” he said.
He cited former President John Agyekum Kufuor and former President Nana Akufo-Addo as leaders who successfully maintained party cohesion while delivering on major national reforms.
“[Former] President Kufuor maintained cohesion of the party while implementing major reforms. [Former] President Akufo-Addo also brought together stakeholders for initiatives like 1D1F and Free SHS. I will bring the same consultative approach to the party,” he stated.
Eugene Boakye Antwi believes that with the right leadership and discipline, the NPP can overcome its internal differences and remain a strong, united force ready to serve Ghanaians.
