Bawumia’s Mining Policy Will Bring Sanity — NAPO

The running mate of the NPP, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has stated that the next NPP administration, under the leadership of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, will be hard on illegal mining popularly known as galamsey by strictly enforcing mining regulations.

Addressing a mini rally in Bogoso in the Prestea-Huni-Valley constituency of the Western Region on Sunday, September 8, 2024, Napo, as the running mate is well known, said Dr Bawumia’s mining policy will bring sanity into the system. “Dr Bawumia will initiate action to regulate small-scale mining, and make it more useful for mining communities communities like Prestea and Bogoso,” he stated.

NDC hypocrisy
He took a dig at the NDC for pretending to be against galamsey while the party goes behind promising to release all persons arrested for galamsey.

He explained that the NDC is only using propaganda and lies to sway voters to their side. “Dr Bawumia’s vision is to foster responsible mining practices while assisting small-scale mining companies grow into larger enterprises. This will be achieved through capacity building and providing access to financing for equipment acquisition,” Napo stated.

Minerals development bank
Furthermore, he reiterated Dr Bawumia’s plan to collaborate with the private sector to establish a Minerals Development Bank, which will support the mining industry.

Other activities
Napo also addressed the chiefs and clergy in the community. He emphasized that the NPP’s primary objective has always been to manage Ghana’s mineral resources in a way that benefits the people and stimulates economic growth without compromising the environment.

He urged the people to vote for the NPP parliamentary candidate, Barbara Oteng-Gyasi on December 7.
