Bawumia tours registration centres in G/Accra, Central regions; Says exercise has been smooth

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, visited some registration centres in Greater Accra and Central regions to monitor the limited registration exercise, and expressed satisfaction with the process .

“So far it has been smooth and let’s hope other parts of the country experience same,” he said.

Dr. Bawumia prayed that the exercise ends successfully. He urged potential voters who are yet to register to take advantage so that they can exercise their franchise during elections.

Minors
Vice President Bawumia said reports reaching him indicate that there have been attempts to register minors.
He admonished parents not to allow their children who have not reached the statutory age to register in the voters registration exercise else it will have dire consequences for them.

He said it is not only criminal for minors to register but their future will also be endangered. “When you allow your under-age child to register you are not only putting him in line for legal action, but you’re also compromising his future. “When you register them at this stage, it enters into the record books and when it comes to retirement, they will be retiring at a relatively early age and you’ll have destroyed their future for them,” he stated.
