Bawumia resumes campaign this week ahead of National Delegates Congress

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is leaving no stone unturned in his quest to become the flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 general elections.

Days after coming tops in the party’s super delegates conference, Dr. Bawumia will resume his campaign this week in preparation for the National Delegates Congress on November 4, 2023.

The spokesperson of the Vice President’s campaign, Nana Akomea, who made this known while speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo morning show monitored by The Thunder on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 said, Dr. Bawumia is taking the flag bearer race very serious.

He, however did not disclose the areas the leading flag bearer aspirant will be visiting this week.

Grassroots
He said in spite of coming first with a wide margin in Saturday’s super delegates conference , the Vice President will continue to touch base with delegates especially the grassroots to do what is needful by selling his message of hope to them.

Nana Akomea was confident that the Vice President will win the November 4 contest.

Dr. Bawumia won the super delegates polls with 629 votes, representing 68.15% of the total valid votes. Kennedy Agyapong came second with 132 votes, or 14.30% while Alan Kyerematen placed third with 95 votes, or 10.29%. Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto was 4th with 40 votes representing 3.90% ; Boakye Agyarko, 9 votes, 0.98%; Addai Nimo, 9 votes– 0.98%, tied in fifth position.

For the rest , Kwabena Agyapong had 6 votes or 0.35 %; Joe Ghartey, 4 votes, 0.34%; Kojo Poku, 3 votes 0.32%, and Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, 0 votes 0.00%.

The Chairman of the NPP’s Presidential Election Committee, Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye, announced that Addai Nimo and Boakye Agyarko will go for a run off on Saturday to determine who joins the first four for the National Delegates Congress on November 4, unless one of them backs out of the race.
