Bawumia, NAPO congratulate Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey on her election as Commonwealth Secretary-General
NPP presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and his vice, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, have congratulated Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey on his election as Secretary-General of the Commonwealth.
Commonwealth members last Friday, elected Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration as secretary-general of the 56-nation club headed by Britain’s King Charles, at the final day of a summit in Samoa attended by Charles and Queen Camilla.

In his message, Dr Bawumia expressed delight with the news about her election. “Congratulations on making Ghana proud. Keep shining, and I know you will excel as always. God bless our homeland, Ghana. God bless the Commonwealth of Nations.”
NAPO’s message
Expressing his joy over the election, Napo stated, “I congratulate warmly, my sister and colleague, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, on her election as the 7th Secretary-General of the Commonwealth. Great news indeed!
“As a distinguished diplomat and the first Ghanaian to hold this position, I have no doubt that she will bring her immense experience to this new role and make us all proud.”
