Bawumia jabs Mahama for questioning performance of WASSCE candidates
Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has taken a subtle jab at former President John Dramani Mahama for his attempt to denigrate the achievements of candidates of this year’s West African Senior School Certificate Examination ( WASSCE).
Although the West African Examinations Council ( WAEC) has described this year’s results as the best in four years, Mr Mahama who is the flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2024 elections, has pooh-poohed the results , claiming they were not a true reflection of realities. “In many places, they let the children cheat. You go to places, and the teachers connived with the students to cheat. The effect will be seen later”, the former President stated during his Building Ghana Tour.
Disingenuous
But, Dr Bawumia, who is also the flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the 2024 elections, has told the students not to let anyone denigrate their achievements. “Not everyone can appreciate what it takes to be an intelligent student. You have earned the excellent performances by dint of hard work. God bless you,” he stated in a statement on Thursday.
Ghana proud
Vice President Bawumia congratulated the students, their teachers and parents for the excellent performance of the students in the examinations. He attributed the performance to hard work and dedication by all the players.
“You have made Ghana proud and I wish you the very best as you move on to greater challenges“.
