Ato Forson rather pleaded with A-G to discontinue his prosecution; A-G denies scheming to jail minority leader
The office of the Attorney General (A-G) has dismissed allegations by Richard Jakpa, the 3rd accused person in the fake ambulance trial that the A-G , Godfred Yeboah Dame sought his cooperation to secure the conviction of Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.
Rather, the office said , it has in its possession a video recording that Dr. Forson pleaded with the A-G to drop his prosecution.
The allegation
In court on Thursday, May 23, Jakpa alleged that the A-G had approached him multiple times, seeking his assistance to implicate Minority Leader and former Deputy Finance Minister, Dr. Forson.
The NDC has also gone ahead to express concern over what it claims to be a case of persecution of Dr. Forson.
Denial
But, a statement signed by a Deputy Attorney-General, Alfred Tuah Yeboah, stated, “The Republic has never required or desired the cooperation of any of the accused persons in the matter, in which it has already succeeded in establishing a prima facie case against all the accused persons. “Neither the Attorney-General nor any officer from the Office of the Attorney-General has approached any of the accused persons with the view to obtaining evidence from them.”
The A-G disclosed that Hon Cassiel Ato Forson attempted reaching a plea bargain with the state which were all rejected.
