At Climate Week NYC: Napo Links Energy to Job Creation and Economic Growth

Former Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has noted that modern economic growth requires energy that is efficient, accessible, affordable, and sustainable.

In a post on social media following his attendance at the Economist Impact Roundtable during Climate Week NYC, Napo, as he is affectionately known, stated, “Powering growth and creating jobs begins with innovation, collaboration, and the determination to build systems that sustain progress. This is how we shape our collective future with our own hands.”

During the event in New York, he joined global thought leaders to explore ways to meet future energy demands while fostering growth, creating jobs, expanding economies, and protecting the environment.

Background

The event featured various roundtables, including one by KPMG that focused on the connection between climate change and human health, and another hosted by the International Federation of Young Citizens, which addressed the role of youth in climate decision-making. Additionally, closed-door “Executive Series” roundtables brought together senior leaders to discuss challenges and opportunities, while the “Legislative Roundtable” focused on New York’s climate targets and involved state senators.
