Assin North will be blue again, President Akufo-Addo  declares

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has urged members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to stay strong in the aftermath of the party’s loss of the Assin North by-election.

He said in a democracy, you either win or lose for which reason that the party members must keep their heads up.

“I urge members of my party, the New Patriotic Party to keep their heads up, recognising that, in a democracy, there are winners and losers, and that we live to fight another day. We once held the Assin North seat, and I am confident that, sooner rather than later, Assin North will be blue again,” the President stated in a statement on Wednesday, June 28.

Democratic credentials

President Akufo-Addo said the by-election was yet another testament to the strength of Ghana’s democratic credentials.

The election, he noted, was conducted in a peaceful atmosphere, and was credible.

Congratulations

The President congratulated the National Democratic Congress on its victory.

He added: “I congratulate warmly the Chairperson and Members of the Electoral Commission, again, for a job well done. The security services are to be commended for maintaining law and order during the holding of the elections; as is the media for providing extensive coverage before, during and after the elections. “
