Asantehene Provides Modern AI Lab for Ahafo Sankore

The Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation, in partnership with Newmont Africa, has commissioned and officially opened an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Lab at Sankore in the Ahafo Region.

This marks the fourth AI Lab established by the Foundation under its AI for Youth Laboratories Initiative, following successful openings in Wioso, Kona, and Toase, all within the Ashanti Region.

The Sankore AI Learning Centre, a significant milestone in empowering rural communities with future-ready skills, was launched on Friday, November 28.

Benefits

The lab will provide students and teachers in Sankore and surrounding communities with hands-on access to digital tools, robotics, coding, and AI training. This initiative aims to foster creativity, innovation, and limitless possibilities.

The facility is designed to cultivate problem-solvers, critical thinkers, and young innovators who can confidently compete in an increasingly digital world.

Transformation

Nana Prof. Oheneba Boachie-Adjei Woahene II, the Otumfuo Hiahene and Board Chairman of the Foundation, who commissioned the project, emphasized that through these transformative investments, the Foundation and Newmont Africa are demonstrating that quality digital education should be a right for every Ghanaian child, regardless of their background.

He stated, “Together, we are building a future where rural talent meets global opportunity, and no child is left behind in the digital revolution.”

The commissioning ceremony was attended by Nana Appiah Kubi Paabo Katakyie IV, the Sankorehene, along with other community leaders.
