Muntaka is a tyrant – Asawase NDC Chairman

Chairman for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Asawase Constituency in the Ashanti Region Faisal Dauda has described the Member of Parliament for the Constituency, Alhaji Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka, as a ruler who exercises total power harshly with no legal limits.

There has been an unhealthy relationship between the Asawase MP and some constituency executives including the current chairman since the party held its internal elections last year.

The whole internal wrangling started after the Asawase MP, Muntaka Mubarak, suggested, before the constituency elections, that delegates should retain the incumbent executives. Most of them, however, lost.

The current chairman, for instance, beat the incumbent to win the nod.

Speaking exclusively on Akoma FM’s current affairs and political show GhanAkoma Thursday, January 12, Faisal Dauda explained that the Member of Parliament has been plotting to go unopposed to have his way into parliament for the fifth consecutive time.

Mr Dauda, who is also known as Chairman Concern, told host of the show Aduanaba Kofi Asante Ennin that “Muntaka is a tyrant, he runs the constituency outside the tenets of the party constitution but me as a chairman I will ensure that democracy is upheld and for that matter we will open the floor for interested NDC persons to contest the primaries but left for Muntaka alone he would go unopposed”.

The ongoing brouhaha between Faisal Dauda and his MP has created tension in the Asawase Constituency, leaving the only NDC constituency in Kumasi divided.

Some youth groups within Asawase NDC have since appealed to the national executives to swiftly intervene to ensure extra damages are not caused to deepen the cracks and forfeit the party from clinging power in 2024.
