Advancing Education In Manhyia South: Napo Donates Laboratory Furniture To Serwaa Nyarko SHS
In furtherance of his commitment to the development of education in his constituency, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has donated laboratory furniture to the Serwaa Nyarko Senior High School at Dichemso in Kumasi.
This furniture is expected to go a long way to boost the efforts of the school in advancing STEM education.
Dr. Prempeh, alias Napo, accompanied by some leaders of the NPP in the Manhyia South Constituency including the Chairman, Richard Adjei Mensah Ofori Atta, aka Tom Tom was in the school on Friday, April 19, to make the donation.
Assembly hall
Speaking at the event, Dr. Prempeh, who is also the Minister of Energy, said he was determined to do more for the school to further improve teaching and learning. He said he was also thinking about providing a multi-purpose assembly hall for the school. “I know I have to do something major for this school and getting a multi-purpose Assembly Hall is something I am thinking about to give to Serwaa Nyarko. And I am serious because the school is named after my great grand mum and I hope to make this school a model girls’ school”, he stated.
Advise
Dr. Prempeh advised the students to take their studies seriously to enable them achieve their dreams and become responsible citizens in the future.
Appreciation
Authorities of the school thanked the MP for his continuous support to the school. “If you get into our science lab you could see that we are using benches that are not meant for teaching and learning. These standardized benches and stools will be put to use. Maintenance culture is a problem in this country but over here we will assign a team to monitor the items such that whoever causes any damage will be dealt with,” Owusu Ansah Derchie, Head of the Science Department of the school said.
