Addressing Economic Challenges: Mahama Backtracks On Promise

John Mahama is singing a different song of how he is going to tackle the challenges of the state.
A week after winning a historic victory in the 2024 elections, the president-elect who in the election campaign, promised to reset the nation and bring hope to Ghanaians, is now saying that the task ahead of him is daunting.

Task
Speaking during a thanksgiving service at the Assemblies of God Church in Accra on Sunday, December 15, Mr Mahama mentioned the enormity of the situation.

Nevertheless, he expressed his commitment to tackle the situation with all seriousness. “I can confirm that our country is still in a very severe economic crisis, and it is going to take a lot of work to bring it back. It is going to be a very tough task to restore our economic prosperity, but I pray that the God who gave me this responsibility will give me the strength and the wisdom to handle it,” he said.

God’s guidance
The incoming President also sought God’s guidance and wisdom to successfully navigate the challenges. “I pray that God gives me the sense of discernment and wisdom to choose the right people to work in the best interest of the people of Ghana,” he stated.

He added: “God’s favour is still on our dear country Ghana and I know he will not forsake us.”
