Dr. Bawumia leads NPP presidential race with 52%, Ken Agyapong trails with 17% – Poll

Former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has been tipped as the frontrunner in the race to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) into the 2028 general elections, according to a new poll released by Global Info Analytics on August 21, 2025.

The poll shows Dr. Bawumia commanding 52% support among NPP delegates ahead of the party’s upcoming presidential primaries.

His closest contender, former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, trails significantly with 17%.

Other candidates in the race received lower levels of support. Dr. Bryan Acheampong polled 3%, followed by former Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum with 1%. Former General Secretary Kwabena Agyapong, Boakye Agyarko, and Addai Nimo each received less than 1%.

Meanwhile, 10% of delegates remain undecided, while 9% declined to disclose their preference.

The poll surveyed 2,656 NPP delegates, with 2,560 completing all responses. Interviews were conducted from August 12 to 20, 2025, across 263 of the 276 constituencies using computer-assisted telephone interviews (CATI). The survey has a confidence level of 99% and a margin of error of ±2.44%.

The data suggests Dr. Bawumia holds a strong lead but still faces the challenge of converting undecided delegates as the primary draws closer.
