Vote for Bawumia in 2024 election – Napo calls on small-scale miners

The Vice-Presidential Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has reiterated the party’s dedication to supporting responsible small-scale mining in Ghana.

At a campaign rally in Seyerano, within the Sefwi Juaboso Constituency of the Western North Region, Dr. Prempeh promised miners that the NPP plans to provide equipment, financial support, and technical training to promote sustainable mining practices if they win the upcoming election under Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s leadership.

During a gathering that included local Chiefs, Queen Mothers, religious leaders, community groups, and residents, Dr. Prempeh made a compelling argument for backing Dr. Bawumia instead of John Mahama in the December 7 election.

He urged the people of Juaboso to support the NPP’s Parliamentary Candidate, stressing the importance of overcoming opposition from the NDC Minority in Parliament to push forward development projects.

Dr. Prempeh specifically reached out to mining communities, highlighting the need for a government that focuses on sustainable and environmentally friendly mining practices.

He affirmed that while the NPP supports the mining sector, it opposes illegal activities that damage the environment.

In addition to the rally, Dr. Prempeh spoke to students at the College of Health in Sefwi Asafo, showcasing the NPP government’s accomplishments, such as the Free Senior High School (SHS) program and the reinstatement of allowances that were cut during the Mahama administration.

He encouraged students to maintain their faith in the NPP, the party responsible for introducing Free SHS and making progress in gender equality in education.

He pointed out that for every 100 boys in school, there are now 107 girls, a trend he promised would continue under Dr. Bawumia’s leadership.

Additionally, a Queen Mother from the Bia East Constituency publicly criticized the local NDC MP, challenging him to demonstrate any developmental projects in the area.

Declaring her support for the NPP, she stated that all progress in her Constituency has come through NPP efforts, and she is willing to step down as Queen Mother if the NDC MP can prove otherwise.

Mr Alex Tetteh, the Member of Parliament for Sefwi Akontombra, also addressed the gathering, reiterating the NPP’s dedication to impactful development across Ghana.
