Let’s Debate: NAPO challenges Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang to a Showdown

Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, the Vice Presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, to engage in a public debate.

Speaking during his appearance on the widely followed Kokrokoo program on Peace FM, hosted by Kwame Sefa Kayi and monitored by MyNewsGH.com, NAPO expressed his eagerness to participate in a discussion that could shed light on their differing visions for Ghana.

“Let’s be honest; this is an opportunity for us to present our ideas directly to the people,” NAPO declared, emphasizing the significance of open dialogue in democratic processes.

He pointed out that both he and Opoku-Agyemang have previously served as ministers of education, making their potential debate not only relevant but also a fair contest of ideas. “We both have the experience needed to discuss education and development policies, so let’s do this,” he added.

The timing of this challenge is particularly notable as former President John Dramani Mahama, the NDC flagbearer, has recently declined to participate in a debate with NPP’s candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

NAPO seized this opportunity to criticize the NDC’s stance, stating, “If Mahama is unwilling to engage, then it’s even more important for Jane and me to have this debate. The people deserve to hear from us.”

With a confident demeanour, NAPO asserted that he would come out on top in any debate scenario. “I can win this debate anywhere, even in Jane’s own bedroom,” he quipped, showcasing his belief in the superiority of the NPP’s ideas over those of the NDC.

He went on to stress that the NDC has failed to present innovative solutions to the challenges facing the nation, saying, “We need fresh ideas and a clear vision for our future. It’s time for real discussions, not just empty promises.”
