Napo Leads NPP Delegation to Celebrate Akwasidae with Otumfuo in UK

NPP presidential running mate, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, led the party’s delegation to the 6th Akwasidae celebration of the year, in London, United Kingdom on Sunday, August 4, 2024.

The well-attended event was part of the 25th anniversary celebrations of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. His Majesty sat in state to receive homage from his people in UK and other parts of Europe.

Culture
Culture, in Asante style, was at its best and many visitors had a lot to learn from the celebration.
Hundreds, including non Asantes joined in celebrating the legacy and contributions of Otumfuo to the development of Asanteman and Ghana.

NPP delegation
With Dr Opoku Prempeh, a.k.a. Napo were the Minister of Chieftaincy and Culture, Stephen Asamoah Boateng; the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor, Justin Kodua Frimpong, General Secretary of the party and the National Organiser of the party, Henry Nana Boakye.

The impressive representation of the NPP at the event was a testament to the party’s respect to traditional leadership and cultural development of Ghana. One after the other, Napo and his delegation walked close to Otumfuo, dropped their clothes to their chest and greeted the King who sat in state richly dressed in Kente.

Kufuor
Also in attendance was former President John Agyekum Kufuor. Even in his wheelchair, he was wheeled to go and pay homage to Otumfuo.

Presentations
Various Asante associations in UK and Europe, as well as some individuals presented drinks to the Asantehene in line with custom.
