24-Hour Economy Will Be Used To Sell Waakye – Felix Kwakye Ofosu

Members of the opposition National Democratic Congress ( NDC) continue to make a mockery of the party’s 24-Hour Economy promise.

As they struggle to make sense with the policy, a former Deputy Minister of Communications in the erstwhile Mahama government, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, muddied the waters with yet another laughable explanation.

Appearing on ‘Ekosiisen’ afternoon political show on Asempa FM, Felix , currently an aide to former President Mahama, said the 24-Hour Economy will be used to sell waakye in the night.

Question
Answering a question by the host of the programme, Philip Osei Bonsu, alias OB, the vociferous former deputy minister said, waakye, the popular Ghanaian dish, is usually not sold in the night and the 24-Hour Economy will correct it.

He posed a question: “How many people sell waakye in the night?”

Pushed by OB to come out with further and better explanation, Felix said, a Mahama government will ensure that those who sell the delicacy operate not only during the day time, but also in the night.

Bawumia mocks Mahama
Already, Vice President and flagbearer of the NPP, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has said Mahama himself does not understand the 24-Hour Economy promise he is making to Ghanaians.

Speaking in Tamale during his recent campaign tour of the Northern Region, Dr Bawumia stated, “Today John Mahama says he has a new idea and what is the new idea; he says he wants a 24-Hour Economy. He doesn’t even understand that promise.“

He added; “Today in Ghana, our hospitals work 24 hours, our electricity company work 24 hours, our water company works 24 hours, our transport companies work 24 hours, many chop bars work 24 hours, isn’t it? Today, because of digitalization, you can transfer money and receive money 24 hours, so he doesn’t understand his own policy, it doesn’t make sense.

“The police is working for 24 hours. The security services are working for 24 hours. So what is this 24-Hour Economy that you want to bring? Operating 24 hours is an issue for businesses. If you’ll make more money opening 24 hours, there is no law preventing you.”
