13th Adua for late Vice President Aliu Mahama slated for November 16

The family of the late former Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Alhaji Aliu Mahama, will hold the 13th Commemorative Adua in his honour on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at No. 4 Switchback Road, Cantonments, beginning at 9:00 a.m.
The solemn Islamic prayer service will bring together family members, political leaders, friends, and members of the Muslim community to remember and pray for the late statesman, who served Ghana with humility, discipline, and devotion to national unity.
The National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, will be the Special Guest for the occasion. He will lead the prayers and deliver a message of reflection, peace, and faith. Several dignitaries from government, opposition parties, and traditional leadership are also expected to attend, underscoring the late Vice President’s enduring influence and cross-party respect.
The Adua — a key Islamic rite held in remembrance of the departed — will celebrate Alhaji Aliu Mahama’s legacy as a leader who championed discipline and nation-building throughout his public life.
Alhaji Aliu Mahama served as Vice President of the Republic of Ghana from January 7, 2001, to January 7, 2009, under the administration of former President John Agyekum Kufuor. Until his passing in November 2012, he was widely regarded as a symbol of integrity and patriotism, inspiring generations with his commitment to service and national development.
The commemoration is expected to highlight his contributions to public service, his advocacy for discipline among the youth, and his deep commitment to promoting harmony and tolerance within Ghana’s diverse society.
