Bawumia meets Majority Leader on running mate decision

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has met Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin.

The meeting, held at the Vice President’s residence shortly after 4 pm on Friday, focused on Dr Bawumia’s selection of a running mate for the upcoming December elections.

Party insiders reveal that Dr Bawumia has chosen Energy Minister Mathew Opoku Prempeh as his running mate.

He has entrusted Afenyo-Markin, the MP for Effutu, with the responsibility of communicating this crucial decision to the Majority Caucus in Parliament.

The Effutu MP has since executed the NPP leader’s directive.

Additional sources suggest that the NPP is preparing to hold a National Council meeting next Tuesday.

This event will provide a forum for Dr Bawumia to officially introduce his choice to the party’s senior members for their review and endorsement, in accordance with the NPP’s constitution.
