Parliament to resume sittings on 11 June

Parliament will resume sittings for the Third Meeting of the Fourth Session on Tuesday (11 June), at 10am, the Office of the Speaker has announced.

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, signed a statement on Monday (27 May) confirming the resumption date.

“Pursuant to Order 58 of the Standing Orders of the Parliament of Ghana,” the statement reads, “I, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Speaker of Parliament, hereby give notice that, the third meeting of the fourth session of the eighth parliament of the fourth Republic shall commence on Tuesday, the 11th day of June 2024 at ten o’clock in the forenoon at Parliament House, Accra.”

This follows Parliament’s last sitting on Friday (17 May), where a US$150 million loan agreement between the government and the World Bank’s International Development Association was approved.

The loan aims to bolster Accra’s economic resilience. Additionally, Parliament approved the appointments of 21 individuals to ministerial and deputy ministerial positions, including two new appointees to the Ministry of Finance.
