Napo Leads Ghana Spotlight Session at Africa Energy Forum in Barcelona

Attention at the 26th Africa Energy Forum (AEF 2024) in Barcelona, Spain on Thursday ( June 27, 2024) turned to Ghana in the afternoon as the main theatre hosted a well-attended Country Spotlight session.

Energy Minister, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, led the event to sell Ghana as the investment destination of choice in the renewable energy sector in Africa. It also marked the conclusion of the minister’s participation at AEF 2024.

Achieving goal
Dr Opoku Prempeh, alias Napo, emphasized the need for significant investment in Ghana’s renewable energy sector to achieve the goal of 10% renewable energy in the national electricity generation mix by 2030.

Expansion
He also highlighted the country’s target to expand renewable energy sources and introduce nuclear and other clean energy forms as outlined in Ghana’s energy transition framework.

Dr Opoku Prempeh urged investors to seize the opportunities available in the sector, as Ghana is ready to collaborate with them. “I am confident that our discussions at this conference will once again, bring about the necessary outcomes for the growth and prosperity of Ghana’s energy sector,” he stated.
