My gov’t has constructed more roads than Mills/Mahama Combined – President Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has said that his government has constructed more roads than the the Mills/Mahama administrations combined.

He said his government has completed 12,830km of roads, 6 interchanges, and 36 major bridges as against 4,636 kms of roads and five interchanges by the Mills/Mahama governments.

Besides, he mentioned some major roads and interchanges that would be completed by the end of the year.

President Akufo-Addo was speaking at the commissioning of a newly constructed 40.4km Bechem-Techimantia-Akomadan Road.

The road is a vital section of Regional Route 66 (R66), connecting the main Kumasi-Techiman Road (N10) at Akomadan with several farming communities and extending to Bechem on the Kumasi-Sunyani Road (N6).

President Akufo-Addo made similar comments at the sod-cutting for the dualisation of the Anwiankwanta-Ahenema Kokoben Road also in the day.

Enhancing connectivity
The completion of the 40.4km road will greatly enhance connectivity from Bechem to key communities along the corridor, including Techimantia and Akomadan, thereby promoting agricultural activities and boosting the region’s economic vitality.

Axle load
The President emphasised the importance of enforcing axle load restrictions and regular maintenance of the road.

Road safety
In his remarks, the Minister of Roads and Transport, Francis Asenso-Boakye, urged road users to adhere strictly to safety regulations to maintain the highest standards of safety in order to fully benefit from this improved infrastructure.

He assured that the government of President Akufo-Addo and Dr Bawumia remain truly committed to the development needs of the entire country.

Name road after Akufo-Addo
The Krontihene of Techimantia, Nana Ampong Kromanteng II, commended the government for the reconstruction and requested that the road be named after President Akufo-Addo.
