Lady Julia Holds Mentorship Masterclass to Celebrate International Women’s Day

Over 500 students from the Ashanti Region participated in Lady Julia’s Mentorship Masterclass, in observance of International Women’s Day 2025.

The event, which took place at the Great Hall of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on March 7, 2025, was on the theme: “Accelerate Action: Together We Can Forge Women’s Equality.”

Organized by the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation, the masterclass aimed to empower beneficiaries to pursue their dreams and help bridge gaps in gender equality.

Speakers
This year’s event featured prominent women speakers, including Nana Dr. Phyllis Tawiah, Queen of Aninkroma; Nana Prof. Ekua Suapim Nyaniba I, Queen of Deha in the Cape Coast Traditional Area; Prof. Mrs. Mercy Badu, Senior Lecturer in the Chemistry Department at KNUST; and Mrs. Appiah Wiafe Adofo, Country Director for the World University Service of Canada. They shared valuable insights and life experiences with the students in attendance.

The event was graced by Lady Julia Osei Tutu, the wife of the Asantehene; Nana Prof. Oheneba Boachie-Adjei Woahene II, Otumfuo Hiahene and Board Chairman of the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation; and Prof. Rita Akosua Dickson, the Vice-Chancellor of KNUST.

In her opening remarks, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rita Akosua Dickson praised Lady Julia for her leadership in initiating the Masterclass. “Mom, thank you for this opportunity to speak to these young ladies and let them know that they have the potential to succeed. They are capable individuals, and nothing should stand in their way. We salute you, our mother, for this wonderful initiative,” she said.
