Complete And Operationalise All Health Projects You Inherited in Ashanti Region – Otumfuo To Okoe Boye
Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has urged the Minister for Health, Dr Bernard Okoe Boye, to do everything possible to complete all health projects he inherited and make them operational before the end of his tenure on January 7, 2025.
His said the projects , some of which have stalled for many years, like the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Teaching Hospital, the Sewua Regional Hospital and the 17 ‘Agenda 111’ hospitals in the region, need all the attention.
The King made the call when the Minister paid a courtesy call on him at the Manhyia Palace on Wednesday, June 26, 2024.
No single government
Otumfuo said it is a fact that no single government can deliver all the needs of the people.
However, he said, that should not be an excuse for a government to complete projects it inherited or started .
Therefore, with what your government started and what you came to meet, make sure they are completed, he said.
He said with the burden of the IMF bailout on the government having lessened, he expect the health minister to liaise with the finance minister on those projects.
Otumfuo is progressive
Dr Okoe Boye commended Otumfuo for his good works.
He said way before he had the opportunity of meeting Otumfuo in person, he had familiarized himself with the King through his countless initiatives in the health sector and other areas all over the country. He expressed his immense gratitude to Otumfuo for his enormous contribution to the country’s peace, stability and development.
“I came specifically to thank Otumfuo for all the good works. I haven’t met Otumfuo in person but I have met his work. The peace in Dagbon is one of his works as well as the Heal KATH initiative. At the time we were schooling, the structure of Komfo Anokye was not in good shape. That was way back in the 2000s. It is one of the major reasons I came to thank him,” he stated.
