Bawumia donates laptops, white canes to visually impaired students

The Vice President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has donated customized laptops and white canes to visually impaired students at the University of Ghana.

The donation , which was made on his behalf by the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Lydia Seyram Alhassan, took place at the newly established Center for Disability Studies and Advocacy on the campus.

Free tertiary education for PWDs
Ms Alhassan reiterated Dr Bawumia’s promise to introduce free tertiary education for Persons with Disability (PWDs) if elected President in the upcoming December 7 elections. This promise of free tertiary education for Persons with Disability is a key component of the Bawumia campaign, which she said will bring about inclusivity.

Timely support
For his part, the Director of the Centre for Disability Studies and Advocacy at the University of Ghana, Dr. Peter Ndaa, praised the timeliness of the support and stressed that it will be put to good use.
