Asantehene Directs Mamponghemaa to Present Stool Candidate

Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has instructed Mamponghemaa, Nana Agyakoma Difie II, to urgently consult the royal family and nominate a suitable candidate for the Asante Mampong Stool.
“The Amaniapong Stool cannot remain without an heir,” the King declared.

Speaking at the Asanteman Council meeting on July 10, 2025, His Majesty clarified that the queenmother and those traditionally authorized to install or remove a chief hold the sole responsibility for selecting a candidate—not the kingmakers.

He reminded the Mampong kingmakers that their role does not include choosing a candidate.

Cases heard
During the meeting, the Council addressed disputes involving Gyadam, Kwamang, Awua Dumase, and Agona.

This marked the first session since Otumfuo Osei Tutu II suspended sittings following the passing of Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, the Asante Mamponghene.
