Congratulatory messages pour in for Napo as Bawumia inform NPP National Executives of his running mate
Congratulatory messages have been pouring in for Energy Minister and MP for Manhyia South, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh following his choice as running mate of NPP flagberer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
On Monday, July 1, 2024, Dr Bawumia presented the name of Dr Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as Napo, to the national executives of the NPP at the party’s headquarters in Accra.

In a Facebook post on Monday, Henry Nana Boakye alias Nana B stated: “H.E. Bawumia has today, 1st July 2024, formally informed National Officers of the NPP of his nomination of Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO) as his running mate in the upcoming 2024 General Elections.
“The meeting which occurred at the NPP’s headquarters in Asylum Down follows an earlier presentation of Dr Opoku Prempeh’s nomination to the majority caucus of Parliament. The nomination, however, awaits the decision of the National Council, which is the final approving organ of the NPP,” Nana B stated.
National Council meeting
A meeting of the National Council is scheduled for Thursday, July 4, where Dr Bawumia is expected to officially announce his choice for endorsement. This will be preceded by a National Executive Committee meeting on the same day. Both meetings will be held at the Alisa Hotel.
Congratulatory messages
More party gurus have been sending congratulatory messages to Napo.
The Minister of Roads and Highways, Francis Asenso-Boakye, said, “As a friend, brother, and senior colleague, I have witnessed first hand, Dr Prempeh’s unwavering commitment to our party and country. His track record of achievements and leadership speaks volumes, and I am confident that his nomination will strengthen our campaign and resonate positively with voters.”
A former Member of Parliament (MP) for Bantama and former CEO of the Environmental Protection Agency, Dr Henry Kwabena Kokofu, in a statement, said, “I have already congratulated Hon. Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO) on his nomination and have pledged my unflinching support. We shall together prosecute the Breaking-The-8 Agenda”.
