Travellers to Ghana will no longer fill out landing cards effective March 31
Airline passengers travelling to Ghana will no longer be required to fill out landing forms from March 31 this year.
Disclosing the innovation in a Facebook post on Friday, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia explained that it “is because the same information can be obtained electronically.”
“Furthermore, the Ministry of Interior and the Ghana Immigration Service have been directed to ensure that E-Gates will be operational at KIA this year for use by passengers using their Passports or Ghanacards,” he added.
According to Vice President, “the processes that passengers go through at KIA are also going to be streamlined to drastically reduce the time spent by passengers and avoid duplication.”
The Vice President who has been leading the Akufo-Addo government’s digitalisation drive said this is a result of a productive meeting on improving the competitiveness of Kotoka International Airport (KIA) with key stakeholders.
The meeting included the Ministers for Public Enterprises and Transport and his deputy as well as representatives from the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), Ghana Immigration Service, National Security and Interior Ministry.
